The national Center for Excellence in Assisted Living at Chapel Hill (CEAL@UNC) is pleased to welcome Jill Schewe, current Advisory Board Member and Director of Policy and Regulatory Affairs at the National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL), as the new Vice Chair of the CEAL@UNC Executive Committee, joining current members Doug Pace and Christopher Laxton.
Ms. Schewe brings extensive experience and insight into assisted living policy and practice, including related to licensing, regulations, payment systems, and operational practices, as well as hands-on operational expertise as a licensed assisted living director.
“For more than 20 years, our unique collaborative of diverse organizations has been working together to promote excellence in assisted living” said CEAL@UNC Executive Director, Dr. Sheryl Zimmerman. “The depth and breadth of Jill’s expertise will assure we prioritize the issues most critical to advance the well-being of the people who live and work in assisted living.”
CEAL@UNC extends sincere appreciation to Dr. Lindsay Schwartz, immediate Past Chair and Founder and Principal of Workforce & Quality Innovations, who is transitioning off of the Executive Committee.
Dr. Schwartz has served CEAL since 2013, including as its longest serving Board Chair (2016-2022), providing CEAL with continuity and stability through a number of transitions. Additionally, her vision and leadership were instrumental in shepherding CEAL through its evolution from an independent nonprofit to CEAL@UNC, including reconstituting its Advisory Board and Strategic Advisors.
“I can’t begin to enumerate the contributions Lindsay as made to CEAL and now CEAL@UNC over the past decade, and am beyond grateful that she’ll continue to serve on our Advisory Board,” said Dr. Zimmerman.
