The seventh wave of the National Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Study (NPALS) has now begun. CEAL@UNC friends and affiliates are asked to encourage assisted living and other post-acute/LTC providers that receive a data collection packet to participate in the study, as well as to share how they have used NPALS data in their work.
The publicly available reports are invaluable to understanding the current status of assisted living and its role across long-term care services and support sectors. The most recent NPALS data found that for the first time, more than half of residential long-term care is provided in assisted living, as well as notable needs of assisted living residents for support with locomotion, cognitive impairment, depression, and acute care.
