Dr. Sheryl Zimmerman, Executive Director of CEAL@UNC, is a guest columnist in McKnight’s Senior Living. The fifth article in this series describes the importance of quality improvement in “Weaving excellence into the DNA of Assisted Living.”
This article describes that rather than treating quality improvement as an add‑on, continuous evaluation and improvement can, and should, be embedded into the everyday processes of a community. Highlighting evidence-based tools and national quality frameworks, this column recognizes continuous improvement as a means to sustain excellence in assisted living, and move beyond minimum regulatory standards.
