Research
Based in a leading research university, CEAL@UNC promotes and collaborates in research led by UNC and other universities and organizations to inform assisted living practice and policy across the country. This research is conducted in partnership with assisted living organizations, providers, staff, policy makers, advocates, educators, and residents and their families.
Practice
CEAL@UNC is a national center that develops and disseminates resources addressing a wide array of topics, including evidence-based practices, training materials, consumer information, consensus documents, and other resources. It also provides educational and training opportunities, including internships in assisted living communities.
Public Policy
CEAL@UNC develops materials to promote evidence-based policy, provides a forum to discuss policy- and practice-related issues, and shares information with policy leaders and advocates at state and federal levels. Areas of involvement include the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Home and Community-Based Services Final Rule, and recommendations for medical and mental health care in assisted living (leading the Be Well in AL Coalition), among others.
